Chicken Cookbook

How many pieces of bread to make enough stuffing for a 4 lbs chicken?
Approximately.
And approximate cooking time for the chicken
My cookbook always lists a low temp and a long time and I am wondering what other people do.
Cooking time should be around 15-20 minutes per pound at 350 degrees. I use a thermometer to make sure that it is at the correct temp. One other way to check a whole chicken it to wiggle the wing – if it seems loose and about to fall off, the bird is done.
As for the bread – probably 6 – 8 slices depending on the type of bread. I would make 2-3 cups of stuffing and that should work. You don’t want to over stuff it anyway. And any excess can be baked in a pan. Put it in the oven about half way through baking the bird.
